Overcoming the Effects of Emotional Child Abuse
"Fruit of a Poisoned Tree"
by Marlene Behrend
Self-help for victims of verbal child abuse
Follow Marlene's path of self-destruction to one of spiritual growth and peace of mind
"Fruit of a Poisoned Tree" is an inspirational, self-help book dealing primarily with the issue of verbal child abuse and the threat of physical violence.  After having moved to a small town in North Carolina, Marlene was introduced to the New Age teachings of Edgar Cayce, founder of the A.R.E. (Association for Research and Enlightenment), in Virginia Beach, Virginia.  Her discovery of New Age philosophies, including the Edgar Cayce's teachings of karma and reincarnation, proved to her the existence of a fair and just Creator.
Marlene's uphill climb from the effects of child abuse through her study of the New Age philosophies of Edgar Cayce of the A.R.E is inspirational.  Her self-help journey to spiritual growth is heart warming and uplifting.  Although the subject of child abuse is a serious one, Marlene's accounts of her journey are told with humor and are quite entertaining.  For a truly memorable story of triumph, "Fruit of a Poisoned Tree" will encourage those on their own spiritual path.  Marlene gives thanks to Edgar Cayce and the A.R.E.
About the author
Author, Marlene Behrend, was born in a little village amidst the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York.  Her father, a prison guard, and her mother, moved into one of fifty look alike houses.  On first appearances, it would seem to be an ideal place to raise a family.  A further study of this geographically isolated little village lent an air of fantasy to the lives of the fifty families living there.

Marlene's childhood memories were most likely very similar to many growing up in a dysfunctional family.  Her father, frustrated with his lot in life, tended to take his hostilities out on his family, which made for a very insecure childhood for the author and her two siblings.
A love of music saved the day for Marlene as she found comfort by emersing herself in her piano playing and singing.  However, she grew up with an unrealistic view of family living and eventually started on a path of self-destruction.

While working as a secretary for a well-known company in upstate New York, Marlene transferred to a small town in North Carolina.  While there, she was introduced to the teachings of Edgar Cayce, founder of the Association for Research and Enlightenment in Virginia Beach, Virginia.  Her life turned around and hopes for a better life emerged.

Marlene realizes there are literally millions of people fighting the same battle as she over the effects of verbal child abuse.  She has written "Fruit of a Poisoned Tree" to demonstrate to those people that they are not alone in their quest for a happy, productive life.  At the present time, Marlene has purpose and meaning in her life and is engaged in several projects, including screenwriting.  She hopes to sell her first screenplay shortly.

Marlene has learned to find joy in the small pleasures of life.  She, and her daughter, Jackie, enjoy ghost hunting and traveling.  They share their unique talents with others by taking patrons to the most haunted places in the United States.  They demonstrate the techniques of being a sucessful ghost hunter with others on the darkened battlefields and streets of regions where ghosts are known to reside.
